Here are five tips for walking your dog in the summer! 🐾☀️ What would you add to this list?
🌡️ Do a temperature check. Place the back of your hand on the pavement for several seconds, if it's hot to the touch, it's too hot for your dog. Go for walks early in the morning or later in the evening if it's a warm day to avoid peak sun. Always carry fresh water to stay hydrated.
🌱 Be mindful of grass seeds. These are a common problem for dogs in the spring and summer months. These can burrow into your pet's skin and cause irritation. If you spot a seed in your dog's skin, or think your dog may have a seed in their eye or ear, contact your vet as soon as possible.
🌼 Look out for poisonous plants and flowers. Most flowers and their bulbs, such as daffodils and tulips to name a few, can be toxic to dogs when ingested. If your dog ingests anything they shouldn't, please contact your vet immediately.
