The winning Junior Board team was announced after three hours of presentations on Wednesday. The group of freshmen representing the Golden Scoop, an ice cream shop that hires uniquely-abled individuals to work, won first place and will receive a $2,500 donation. The members of the group included freshmen Catherine Beltrame, Norah Anderson, Libby Marsh, Anna Cicero and Claire Langford. After spending months on their presentation, the team celebrated their win.
“We were really excited,” Beltrame said. “We FaceTimed each other, jumping around because [we] didn’t think we were going to win.”
Eleven teams of students from different grades have been working on their Junior Board presentations since September 2022. Their job was to select a local non-profit organization, research it in-depth and eventually present to judges, according to SHARE coordinator Erin Billingsley. The winners will receive a prize donation that will be given to the non-profit organization and usually the other teams...
