After 4 different golden goal overtime periods adding of 30 additional minutes, the Boys’ Varsity Soccer team lost to Mill Valley 3-2, ending in sudden death penalty kicks. The first 50 students who arrived to the game received free admission, and the bleachers were full. No goals were scored in the first half, starting the second half 0-0. The first goal was scored by Mill Valley, shortly followed by a goal by junior Connor Neusel. Putting the Lancers behind again, Mill Valley scored another goal. With a breakaway, junior Beck Rettemaier tied the game again, ending regular time 2-2. Four overtime periods took place with the golden goal rule, meaning whoever scored first would win. After 30 minutes, neither team scored, leading to a penalty shootout. After 5 penalty kicks, Mill Valley and East were tied, and Mill Valley won 8-7 in sudden death, advancing to state semi-finals in Wichita.
