Mychal Threets has loved going to the library ever since he was 3 years old. That love led him to a career as a librarian, where people would comment on his afro â either that they loved it or thought it was unprofessional.
Now, in an embrace of his natural hair in the hopes that it will inspire others to do the same, artwork of him and his afro will be featured on Berkeley Public Library cards in November.
He was invited to the Berkeley Public Library to celebrate and host Library Afro Revolution Day, an event centered around uplifting Black hair and culture with book giveaways, free haircuts and vogue lessons.
