Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough has just passed a bylaw requiring the implementation of solutions to prevent bird-glass collisions. This isn’t just a new rule—it’s the result of government officials who care deeply, conservationists who are putting it all on the line, and communities that believe every single bird matters. The bylaw mandates that new buildings and major renovations with more than 50 percent glass or windows on exterior walls use bird-safe glass or apply treatments that reduce reflectivity and make clear glass more visible.
