The rumble of the air compressor in the kitchen of Portland’s Li Min Bakery & Bistro means one thing: It’s mooncake season.
At the beginning of August, orders start coming in for the palm-sized pastries traditionally eaten around the Mid-Autumn Festival. In a good year, Lin Min Bakery & Bistro will sell about 8,000 mooncakes over the course of the month, making hundreds of them each day.
