In an effort to return the Izmir Province of Turkey to its natural state after generations of deforestation and land use change, #TeamTrees has planted 50,000 red pine trees in the area with the arbordayfoundation. This ensured cleaner air, cleaner water, carbon storage, better flood prevention, and habitat for area wildlife. Here are some cool facts about Red Pines that you might not already know! ❤️ 👉 Turkish pines produce a sugar with the help of an unharmful aphid that later is collected by honey bees, which produces a richly flavored and valuable honey called, “pine honey.” 👉 Turkish Pines are incredibly heat and drought tolerant and generally grow at sea level. 👉 Turkish Pines germinate easily after fires, but take between 4-10 years to grow.
