New study published in
@sciencemagazine reveals the outsized role sharks play in maintaining
#biodiversity and ecosystem health. The 500+ species of sharks around the world are true ecosystem architects that play a variety of vital roles within the ocean.
As apex predators, sharks influence the behavior and abundance of their prey, creating a ripple effect in the carbon cycle. But marine wildlife hunting, habitat loss, and climate change threaten shark populations.
My organization
@rewild is proud to work directly with the
@sharkconservationfund to restore ocean health through sweeping shark and ray conservation, including fisheries reform and
#30x30. Collaborative efforts like these help to ensure sharks can continue to play their pivotal role in carbon storage and ocean health.
