To clarify further. We need to be garnering honesty dollars in some way. There are three sources
1. Idealogical truths
If we are speaking to something real, the words will hold on there own if the idea also holds true for the world view of the audience
NOTE: Most people think standup is this and only this. I. E. Saying based things. And don’t take into account just how difficult it is to pick out universal truths when random audiences will have differing world views.
I. E. Mayo is disgusting. There’s an audience that will LOVE that idea. There’s another that would go “wtf is William talking about”
It becomes easier when a comic is a brand because the audience will be filled with fans who already have buy in to their perspective. And ppl who don’t agree will already know not to see that comedian.
2. The comic
We are real in stage. So if we are overly affected by a joke. The joke then becomes more about...
