One of downtown Chapel Hill’s longest-standing projects is about to open to the public.
The parking deck at 125 East Rosemary Street is set to open to the public on Monday, August 26 after a brief ribbon-cutting held by the local government at 10 a.m. Chapel Hill Mayor Jess Anderson confirmed the news during an interview with 97.9 The Hill on Thursday.
“I know our downtown businesses and visitors will be very happy that the construction is over and they will be able to park in that deck,” said Anderson. “It’s going to add some new spaces overall to our inventory and there will be 20 new EV charging stations downtown, which is fantastic.”
The $51 million project — funded by the Town of Chapel Hill and done in partnership with Grubb Properties — is set to bring 1,100 spaces to the downtown in the seven-story structure, which replaced a smaller and aging deck at the same site.
