The Amity Affliction, Reading Festival
REVIEW: There’s a lot of love in this tent for The Amity Affliction. A band that has stayed transcendental throughout the ebbs and flows of metalcore over the last decade, they still feel definitively at the centre of the conversation. The fact the singalong that meets a spine-tingling ‘Drag The Lake’ is so deafening goes a long way to cementing that too. Such an enclosed space and such a ravenous crowd allow the likes of the white-hot ‘Show Me Your God’ and despondent ‘All My Friends Are Dead’ to go to the very heights of extremity, whilst every word of the downtrodden intent of ‘It’s Hell Down Here’ feels all the more prominent and pessimistic. It is a testament to the band for striking such a deep chord with so many for so long, allowing moments like this to still happen this deep into their journey. With one last battering via a stirring ‘Soak Me In Bleach’, victory is assured, and The Amity Affliction’s place at the head of the pack is even...
