Today is the first round of the final tournament of the PGA Tour season!
The 1915 Donald Ross design at East Lake Golf Club has hosted the Tour Championship 23 times, but things look a little different this time around. Over the last year, Andrew Green has led a restoration of the golf course bringing Ross’s routing back to life. Throughout the process, Green and his team referenced an aerial image from 1949 to match the contouring and shaping of the original layout.
In the coming years, Torresdale will also undergo a restoration with Andrew Green at the helm. In similar fashion, he and his team will have aerial images from 1924, 1929 and 1939 to help guide the project. Pictured here are aerials from 1929 and 1924.
Tune in to the Tour Championship to see how the world’s best players do on an Andrew Green restored Donald Ross golf course.
