That year she ran the #TCSNYCMarathon for Michael’s Cause, an organization that raises awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. “As a local Staten Islander, I was aware of Michael and his family through their efforts with Michael’s Cause.
