Congratulations to White House Chef Cristeta Comerford on her retirement! After 29 years of working as the White House’s executive chef and serving meals for the past five presidents, Cristeta is hanging up her apron. Cristeta joined the White House staff as an assistant chef in 1995 until she was promoted in 2005 by First Lady Laura Bush. She was the first-ever women to hold the title of White House Executive Chef, as well as the first woman of color. “... At the end of the day the people that we serve are just people like us who want nourishment and good food,” Ms. Comerford said to the nytimes’s aishvaryakavi. 📸 inagarten #bombesquad #cristetacomerford
