I realized after La Plata last weekend that I’ve really got to spend the rest of summer and early fall getting some high elevation hiking in to get ready for Nepal. The high point of my trek there will be 16,700 feet and I’m SCARED for that. 😂 I’ve never been up that high and I suffer at 14,000 feet! So today, I checked out Mt. Flora for a second time, which runs along the Continental Divide Trail near Winter Park. If you want to try a high peak but are intimidated by the 14ers, this would be a great starter option. The trail is fairly mellow, and there’s only 1,800 feet of elevation gain in the three or so miles up to the summit, which is pretty chill compared to many of the 14ers.
