Students Vivian Medina, Corinne Hampton and Olivia Pittman show their school spirit by wearing leis and Hawaiian shirts for this year’s first spirit event. Tropical Day marks the school day preceding the highly anticipated Taco Shack Bowl that kicks off each school year. Hampton said that spirit days are one way to welcome new students into the campus culture. “Having a spirit day really shows freshmen that you can dress up and look cool, which makes freshmen feel better about spirit days in the future,” Hampton said.
