Seven contestants competed in this year’s Husband Calling Contest inside Pioneer Hall at the Iowa State Fair. Husband Calling is one of several long-running “Heritage” competitions, and was followed Friday morning by Mom Calling and Children’s Joke Telling. Wendy Bryce, of Onawa, took home the blue ribbon after taking fourth during her debut at last year’s fair. She says she practiced all year for this moment. And yes, there was tap dancing.
