On September 2, 1878, five Jesuits, two lay teachers and 120 students gathered to begin classes at the newly established Creighton College. Fast forward to today, Creighton University educates over 8,000 students and is a member of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, which includes 28 institutions in the U.S., the District of Columbia and Belize.
