I’ve heard this song my whole life and never really listened to the words. When I heard Sturgill cover this it sent chills down my back and made me tear up a bit, it’s such a beautiful song with such simple and relatable lyrics, and I had it stuck in my head ever since, especially the night we did the Campfire and Home Sweet Home Sessions. This song was on my mind the whole time, and I kept playing little pieces of it after we would wrap a song. When we got to the end of the session I asked the boys to follow me through the song. It was late and quite honestly it was cold out, the guitars weren’t staying in tune, and we had never played it before, but this was the take we got. I love it.
