Recently, our very own Ankur Khurana planetwildimages travelled to India to meet family, where he also took time to indulge in his love for bird photography. India, with its rich biodiversity and over 1,300 bird species (including 81 endemic ones), offered him many opportunities to capture stunning photos of these birds, some of which you can see here. As Ankur travelled through this incredibly biodiverse country, he also met conservationists. He became more aware of the challenges these birds face, including the issue of bird-glass collisions, which is one of the most significant conservation concerns of our time. While scientists have tracked bird-glass collisions primarily in North America, the problem is widespread in all spaces where architectural glass and birds coexist. As India’s cities expand, the risk to these amazing creatures grows too. This experience was a reminder that birds need protection everywhere.
