NOW ON VIEW: EdraSoto's latest architectural intervention "Graft," is now on view in the Doris C. Freedman Plaza at centralparknyc. 🌿🧱 Marking Soto’s first major public art commission in NYC, "Graft" transforms the iconic “rejas”—patterned wrought iron gates from post-war Puerto Rican architecture—into a powerful tribute to the island's lower and middle-class communities. Crafted from red terrazzo concrete and corten steel, this installation invites you to sit at one of its three tables and admire the geometric patterns inspired by Caribbean palm leaves and West African Yoruba symbols. Beyond its striking design, "Graft" explores themes of migration, displacement, and cultural memory, bringing attention to Puerto Rico’s often-overlooked Black heritage.
