Forever Buffs: Meet Dr. Penny E. Patterson! Dr. Penny Patterson is this year's Alumni Recognition Award honoree, celebrated for her dedication to geology, education and service. Penny holds a BA, MS, and PhD in geology from CU Boulder and has blazed a trail in the male-dominated field. She became a Senior Technical Advisor at ExxonMobil, contributing to global geoscience studies and later founded Patterson Geoscience Group, LLC, focusing on petroleum resources consulting. Penny has given over 15 years of service to CU Boulder, including her role on the Geology Advisory Board, where she became the first female chair in 2022. She is known for mentoring women in geoscience and has fostered community through Houston alumni events.
