Dallas County Attorney Jeannine Ritchie says she does not plan to release a report detailing the findings of an investigation into Jan. 4 shootings at Perry High School that left a student, the school's principal and the shooter dead. In the Perry school shooting, numerous questions still surround the motive, means, circumstances and handling of the attack by 17-year-old Dylan Butler, a student at the school. Ritchie, the prosecutor with jurisdiction over the case, said Thursday the document falls under a section of Iowa code that exempts reports about an “ongoing investigation” from the state's open-records laws. Ritchie declined to answer further questions, including whether the investigation is continuing and whether she plans to file charges against anyone in the case, saying, "I cannot comment on investigations."
