The Matthew J. Perry, Jr. Chapter of the National Black Law Students Association (BLSA) celebrated Black History Month by hosting events centered around the theme, "Together We Stand: Expanding Our Reach," focusing on the following areas: Black empowerment, community involvement, academic excellence, blazing the trail, and career and professional development. The #UofSCLaw BLSA concluded February by traveling to Atlanta to participate in the 51st Southern Region of the National Black Law Students Association (SRBLSA) Regional Convention and Career Fair. During the SRBLSA's Gala and Award Banquet, the #UofSCLaw BLSA chapter was recognized as SRBLSA's Large Chapter of the Year. In addition, the BLSA mock trial team consisting of Sulaiman Ahmad '23, Deyjenay Gregory '22, Briana Marshall '23, and Gabrielle Williams '22 were among three of the teams selected to advance to the National Rounds of the BLSA Mock Trial Competition.
