The Purple Bowl and its new offshoot business, The Patio, are preparing to welcome customers this week — just a little further west on Franklin Street than before. The açai bowl eatery and café is putting the finishing touches on its relocation to 505 West Franklin Street, with it officially closing its 306 West Franklin Street location on Monday. Co-owner Taylor Gilland confirmed to Chapelboro that The Purple Bowl aims to reopen on the morning of Thursday, September 12, at its normal hours. The new space represents a size increase for The Purple Bowl, which first opened in 2017, and stability for its owners as 306 West Franklin Street is expected to be redeveloped into a life sciences center. With that new space — and after changing the small parking lot that was previously between the building and South Graham Street — the Gillands are also opening The Patio, which will serve as an outdoor programming space and handle customers walking up to a service window.
