This new smartphone-based digital holographic microscope enables precision 3D measurements. Existing digital holographic microscopes typically quire complex systems, making them difficult to transport or use outdoors. The new microscope from the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology uses a simple optical system with a 3D printer and a calculation syustem based on a smartphone to make it inexpensive, portable, and useful for widespread applications.
