Know before you go: Iceland road trippers—parking at almost every attraction is NOT cheap! 💸 We paid 1000-1,500 ISK (around $7.25 - $10 USD) at most stops, and while it doesn’t sound like a lot, it really adds up. We averaged 4-5 spots with parking charges, every day. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Don’t miss or skip the parking fee!! The areas are photo monitored by license plate, and once you drive in, you’re subject to pay—or get hit with a fine that’s 4x ++ the fee. We missed one charge spot and ended up with a $42 bill, which we had to settle before returning our van. 😬 ☑️ TIP: Most parking payments are made through your phone via QR code, so make sure you’ve got service.
