From the Artist: I’ve always been interested in artifice and how it manifests in our daily lives. We spend most of our time in large urban environments, and within these, we can sometimes discover escapes – versions of paradise, reverse gardens of Eden. These take the form of zoos, botanical gardens, biospheres, parks, etc.
This painting grew out of my desire to create a similar space for contemplation that seems both convincing and organic yet ultimately unreal. It is a transponder that brings the viewer into yet another space – one being constructed psychologically, a floating world. Modern science and technology, which once seemed to be separating humanity out from the natural world, has also revealed a new sense of connectedness with it.
