In 1972, a woman couldn’t even get a bank account or credit card on her own. Her husband had to qualify. That was backwards thinking back then, and thankfully, we stopped it. We’ve come a long way, so let’s not go backwards. We can’t demonize each other if we want to rise together as one America. This country isn’t just a place; it’s an idea. Let’s build it, not divide it. So no - ‘Haitians are not stealing and eating dogs and cats in Ohio,’ it’s just a new low point for those who call themselves a leader of the most immigrant-dependent, inclusive major country and economy on the planet - America. America must remain the ‘light on the hill, for freedom and opportunity, for anyone honest and willing to work hard,’ not the new ‘highway to no where.’ This needs to stop.
