On September 11, 2001, amidst unimaginable chaos, one man’s selfless bravery shone through: Welles Crowther, 'The Man in the Red Bandana.' A volunteer firefighter and equities trader, Crowther led countless people to safety in the South Tower, risking his life to save others until the tower’s collapse. His story, remembered for his courage and compassion, has become a powerful symbol of heroism.
Inspired by Crowther’s legacy, Ben Spillman '25 organized a tribute, allowing students to purchase red bandanas to remember 9/11. Students tied the red bandanas to their backpacks, honoring all those we lost that day. All proceeds that were collected, will go to the 100 Club of Buffalo, aiding local first responders and their families.
