Did you know? Hiding under the long hood of both AMG’s is a cross-plane crank V8, mounted behind the front wheels, to keep the weight closer to the center of the car. They also both use a ‘transaxle,’ meaning the transmission is mounted behind the driver on the rear axle. This configuration is typically only used on race cars to put more weight on the rear axle, but the AMG road car is a transaxle just like the GT3 race car.
