USMNT defender Sergiño Dest is opening a soccer court in his hometown of Almere in the Netherlands.
Dest was born and raised there. He played for the Almere youth academy before leaving for Ajax.
It will be named “Sergiño Dest Court” and will be opened later this month. This is his way of giving back to his hometown.
The 23-year-old is currently recovering from an ACL injury and is targeting a return by the end of January.
In the meantime, he’s focusing on side projects like this and going to different events to distract himself.
Dest said in an interview with ESPN that if he’s watching soccer games, he’s going to want to play and will rush his recovery— which will only hurt him.
