In late summer, the horticulture therapists at the Sydney Thayer, III Horticultural Center acquire monarch butterfly larvae as part of the patient programming! 🐛🦋 Bryn Mawr Rehab’s inpatients benefit greatly from getting in touch with nature. Observing the monarch’s metamorphosis provides a learning experience about native pollinators and local ecosystems. The butterflies promote cognitive goals with patients, increase social goals and spark a wonder and joy in patients that can help with better engagement with their other therapies.
