For over a year now, there has been much debate about the effectiveness and use of #anklemonitors and #electronicmonitoring systems within the juvenile legal system here in New Orleans. This discussion has intensified in recent months to include a variety of stakeholders; both state and city officials.⁠ ⁠ We think it's important to note that while electronic monitoring systems ARE an alternative to detention, they ARE NOT an alternative to incarceration.
