Forever Buffs: Meet Tanya Mares Kelly-Bowry (IntlAf’93). From a young Latina student at CU Boulder to a prominent lobbyist and community leader, Tanya’s journey showcases her resilience and commitment to public service. Over her 26-year tenure at CU, Tanya became the youngest woman and first Hispanic vice president for government relations, securing more than $1 billion in funding and advancing key legislative priorities. Her leadership not only strengthened CU’s lobbying efforts but also championed diversity and inclusion. Beyond CU, Tanya co-founded Policy Matters, mentoring political leaders and shaping policies at every level. Her numerous accolades include Administrator of the Year and fellowships from Harvard and the Colorado Trust.
