The next full moon is an overachiever 🌝⁣ ⁣ The upcoming full moon, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 17, will be a partial lunar eclipse AND a supermoon. ⁣ ⁣ A partial lunar eclipse is an imperfect alignment of the Sun, Earth and the Moon, which results in the Moon passing through only part of Earth’s umbra. The shadow grows and then recedes without ever entirely covering the Moon.⁣ ⁣ A supermoon is when a new or full moon coincides with the Moon’s closest approach to Earth in its elliptical orbit.
