Ever wondered what the designs on our UPRISERS x Suehiro upcycled pieces are? They’re actually “Kamon” depicted with “karahana” flowers. Kamon are Japan’s traditional family crests originally used by noble families to signify their lineage and status. They were often placed outside the family home, but today you’re most likely to see them on traditional clothing like kimono or in modern logos. They commonly incorporate plant, animal, and nature motifs, are simple in design, and are often enclosed by a circular or geometric frame. Whether you’re walking around Little Tokyo, or checking out our UPRISERS x Suehiro collection, we hope you’ll now be able to recognize the Kamon design! #weareuprisers #didyouknow #funfacts #japanesetradition #noren #community #suehiro #suehirolittletokyo
