Today, we’re taking you behind the scenes of our Firearms Unit! 🔫 Ever wondered how we recover bullets for analysis? Our bullet recovery system is a water tank with a shooting port. 💧🔍 Firearms collected as evidence are test-fired into this tank using laboratory ammunition. The water slows down the bullets, preserving the unique markings left by the rifling inside the barrel. We also collect the cartridge cases. These test-fired, known bullets and cartridge cases are then meticulously compared to the evidence, unknown bullets, and cartridge cases.
