The City of Bellingham is considering adding a requirement that all rental units in Bellingham must have locking mailboxes to reduce the risk of mail theft and connected identity theft.
Staff brought forward an ordinance on Monday, July 15 that would add a locking mail receptacle requirement to the Rental Registration and Safety Inspection Program’s safety inspection checklist for all rental units in Bellingham, including single-family houses being rented out.
