These issues pushed residents to stage a protest demanding better amenities the week after move-in, which prompted immediate maintenance response to some issues, while others are still ongoing.
According to campus spokesperson Adam Ratliff, both the lighting, running water and water fountain issues have been resolved, and the elevator and kitchenette concerns are currently being addressed.
“On my floor, there’s a basic lack of amenities,” said freshman Norton resident Finn Pool. “Our showers have strange yellow stains. The water is boiling hot or freezing cold, with very high-pressure water. The lights are off at certain points and don’t run. I mean, just a pretty shabby experience.”
