Our Culture & Diversity Executives are always excited to educate Gusties about cultures and cultural celebrations other than there own. Educational aspects will always be evident at Culture & Diversity events, but read this graphic to learn more about Songkran before you arrive! “Songkran – also known as the Water Splashing Festival – is a celebration to mark the start of the Buddhist New Year. Buddha images are bathed, and younger Thais show respect to monks and elders by sprinkled water over their hands. Songkran is on the 13 April every year, but the holiday period extends to the 15th of April. Parades, dancing and entertainment mark the lunar change, although getting wet is what Songkran is most famed for.”
