The short answer is… Both. You can technically build muscle doing either low or high rep sets under load, but each have their limitations. High rep sets (e.g. 20 reps) 🏋️It’s harder to gauge how close you are to failure which is a must for stimulating muscle growth 🏋️You may be limited by cardiovascular fitness - definitely an issue when training legs 🏋️They hurt - so it may be difficult for you to push hard and endure the discomfort Low rep sets (e.g. 5 reps) 🏋️Put more stress on the nervous system 🏋️Riskier if your form is not fully dialed in - heavier loads put more force on ligaments and cartilage So, what’s the optimal way to stimulate muscle growth?
