Kamayan is a traditional gathering where the community comes together to share a meal and communal space. Kamayan is known as the traditional practice of eating with your hands, in which there is a unique communal practice of eating by hand over a table covered in banana leaves without plates or utensils.
The theme for this quarter's Kamayan is "Alagaan Mo ang Sarili Mo", which directly translates to "take care of yourself" in Tagalog. Alagaan means to actively take care of, in which we hope to highlight the importance of both community and self-care through the practice of eating as a community and engaging in dialogue with one another.
