In celebration of
#HispanicHeritageMonth, we’re spotlighting Juan Soriano’s "Opera at Pekin" for
#TextureTuesdaysNMOA. A key figure in Mexican modernism, Soriano transitioned from his well-known portraits to abstract art by the 1950s. This piece is inspired by his deep connection to the theater world, with the flowing abstract forms echoing the vibrant costumes and dynamic movements of the centuries-old Peking Opera.
