Today in Hip-Hop — A Tribe Called Quest released their sophomore album, ‘The Low End Theory.’ On September 24, 1991, ATCQ followed up their impressive debut with an arguably stronger effort. This second album leaned further into bridging the gap between jazz and hip-hop. It also served as a proper introduction to Phife Dawg’s lyrical abilities as he had a much great presence on this album. Singles like “Check the Rhime,” “Jazz (We Got),” and “Scenario” showed how well Q-Tip and Phife could bounce off each other on a record. In 2022, ‘The Low End Theory’ was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” Which track is still your favorite? #ATribeCalledQuest #ATCQ #TheLowEndTheory #albums #hiphop
