“What made the prospects of equal campus employment so appealing is the foundations upon which it is built upon: merit,” said Leo Rodriguez, a UC Berkeley student and member of the Undocumented Student-Led Network, in an email. “It is merit that allowed undocumented students to come to UC Berkeley, and yet we are presented with a continuation of a separate but equal system. The most simplest way to remedy that was through AB 2586.”
