Meet Austin Cherry, a local baseball player whose life changed earlier this year when he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer found in adolescents and young adults. After experiencing constant, unbearable leg pain, he made a doctor's appointment where they discovered an eight-inch tumor. Austin is receiving treatment at Maynard Children's Hospital where he is supported by his care team and other patients who are going through similar journeys. “There have been two kids who are around my age who I’ve talked to and heard their experiences,” Austin said. “They’ve helped me out, too, like with my port placement. One showed me his port and helped comfort me a little bit.
