When Paul asked if I wanted to crew his 70km race at UTMB Wildstrubel, I jumped at the chance. It’s a long weekend trail running festival in one of my favorite places, the Swiss Alps! While the promotional material showed images straight out of “The Sound of Music,” a sudden cold snap meant we had no idea what to expect on race morning. Waking up to a -1°C morning and thick snow covering our hire car, Paul laughed, “Let me know how it goes!” Fortunately, I brought my camera to capture the atmosphere at Place d’Ycoor, the remote checkpoints and down by the finish. What a day! Tough? Absolutely! But these are the adventures you remember for life.
