GREAT NEWS! 🎉 Legislation has been introduced to establish the Julius Rosenwald and Rosenwald Schools National Historical Park, celebrating the legacy of Julius Rosenwald and the impact of Rosenwald Schools!
Rosenwald partnered first with Booker T. Washington and then with nearly 5,000 African American communities in 15 Southern states during the segregated era to build schools that benefitted 600,000 children. This National Monument will be a stepping stone toward creating a National Historical Park through Congressional legislation, ensuring Rosenwald's contributions and the schools' history are remembered and protected.
Special thanks to Senators SenatorDurbin (D-IL), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), SenWhitehouse (D-RI), and CoryBooker (D-NJ) for introducing and supporting this important act in the Senate, and Representatives OfficialRepDannyDavis (D-IL-7), RepJamesClyburn (D-SC-6), and RepCohen (D-TN-9) for leading the way in the House.
