It’s always surreal looking through your camera roll after someone you care about passes. But then you come across a few pictures that just make you smile. Today we lost a real African Giant! Thank you, big brother Dik, for inspiring me and so many others. The impact you had on my life is immeasurable. Your story of coming from Congo with dreams of becoming a doctor, only to become one of the greatest players in NBA history, inspired a young kid from Nigeria with big dreams of his own. When I asked you why you gave up those dreams, you said, “Everyone has their own path. I realized mine was to impact lives through the game. I could have been a doctor, but I built hospitals that have employed hundreds of doctors and impacted hundreds of thousands of lives.” Thank you for reminding me to walk my own path and use it for the greater good.
